| 7. | SpudShow 427 - Savoir Adore | Group - Savoir Adore from Brooklyn, New York Track 1 - Bodies Track 2 - The Garden Track 3 - We talk like Machines
3 Free Tracks -- Get The CD --- Download Mp3s Info Savoir Adore is an accident. We (Deidre Muro and Paul Hammer) never really intended to "start a band," yet ... Hi! Here we are. Phase 1: We met at NYU, but it took two years of friendship and going to each others' shows before we decided to collaborate on something. in January 2006, we went up to Paul's childhood home in Carmel, NY (referred to from now on as "upstate") and played around in his studio, ending up with an exploratory, improvisational instrumental track. Deidre wanted to have the track, Paul decided to make a MySpace page especially for it, and as necessity is the mother of invention, we needed a name. Savoir Adore was created then, though it didn't really exist yet. Phase 2: November 2006 - Unsatisfied with current situations, we challenged each other to a weekend upstate in which we would create and record a concept album. The Adventures of Mr. Pumpernickel and the Girl with Animals in her Throat was born, for us and our friends. Friends passed the recording to other friends... we were encouraged... we played a few live shows under the name "Les Frogs"... we started performing as Savoir Adore... Cantora Records encouraged us more... we went upstate another weekend and recorded the core of several more songs (most of which would end up on our full-length record)... shows shows shows... got a band together... record record ... write write.... Phase 3: And now we have an LP, In The Wooded Forest (released September 2009). Phase 4: And NOW - we're back in the studio, writing and recording... |

| 9. | SpudShow 425 - Elizabeth Tryon | Music supplied by ArielPublicity Artist - Elizabeth Tryon Track 1 - Dancing Girl Get the music from CdBaby Info Elizabeth Tryon has just released the album, From Elizabeth, and this stunning new work could come from no one other than Elizabeth Tryon. This is because it is unique – just like Tryon is. While Tryon’s music holds immediate appeal to fans of Josh Groban and Sarah Brightman, and their respective mixtures of pop and classical musical elements, Tryon – the artist – simply transcends any such easy categorization. After all, this is a woman that writes screenplays, has perfected multiple British accents -- which are in high demand for commercial voiceover work -- and is an actress in the highly competitive New York City theater scene.

| 11. | SpudShow 424 - Lauren O'Brien | Music supplied by ArielPublicity Artist - Lauren O'Brien
Info The words come through your speakers. Tense words. Sharp words. Hypnotic words. Words couched in grinding guitars and thudding drums, words thick with emotional desperation that also reveal the strangely paradoxical beauty in suffering; the diamonds in the cave, waiting to be mined. The words are those of Lauren O’Brien, one of the most exciting young poet-performers on the scene today. “I love rock ’n’ roll, the passion and rebelliousness of it,” says Lauren. “But I want to be part of it in my own way—I want to take poetry and rock it out.” Which is exactly what Lauren does—and then some—on Inconsequential Dream, her astonishing debut album. Take “Color Code,” a menacing, tension-rich rumination on love’s blurred lines of communication (“The colors in our code system / seem to keep switching on me”). Or the hard-hitting title track, which was inspired by the numerous mystic predictions about the year 2012 and the letting go of old ideas in order to live more fully in the new age (“Try to survive / it’s time / the quickening / the great purifying”). And then there’s “To Let Someone,” an acoustic guitar-laced allegory likening newfound spiritual energy to the acceptance of a former lover’s new mate (“To let someone / who is loved / by the one who used to love you / into your home / Well that is the thing/ that takes / the most courage”). Much like Lauren’s riveting live performances, Inconsequential Dream is a cathartic, emotionally cleansing experience that keeps the listener on the edge of their seat throughout—only to find them back in line when the last track stops, eager to sign up for another wild ride. Lauren’s own ride began in her suburban hometown of East Meadow, Long Island, where she found herself drawn to the arts and political activism. “I organized a protest against fur at the mall when I was in fifth grade,” says with a laugh. There was music and culture in the house; her father played guitar and her mother, a teacher, played piano and exposed her to literature and theater.

| 13. | SpudShow 423 - Cathy Davey | Music supplied by IodaPromonet Artist - Cathy Davey Track 1 - Army of Tears Track 2 - The Nameless
Cathy first featured on SpudShow53
Tour Dates Fri 14th May 2010– Dublin – Olympia Theatre Sat 15th May 2010 – Cork – The Pavilion Sun 16th May 2010 – Limerick – Dolan’s Warehouse
Info The Nameless is Cathy's third album. Cathy was born in Dublin, and grew up in Monkstown. She found her way into music almost accidentally. She was signed by Parlophone's Regal Recordings after a batch of home-recorded demos caused a bit of a stir, and played her first live date shortly thereafter. Spirited away to a studio in Wales, she set to work on her debut album with producer Ben Hillier, who'd previously worked with Elbow and Blur. The result, Something Ilk, was a gorgeous collection of songs both sultry and sweet, with melodies that soared and guitars that buzzed, drawing comparisons to PJ Harvey and all those other female songwriters that female songwriters often seem to draw comparisons to. At any rate, most of these comparisons fell by the wayside with time, as Cathy managed to wriggle out of the indie-rock role that Parlophone had given her. She'd never felt comfortable making her voice heard in label discussions, and found that her debut was "very much other people's idea of what I should sound like." She found it difficult to perform the songs with confidence, and began to yearn for more independence. She took her time to make the follow-up, and made it on her terms. Tales of Silversleeve found its beginnings in some home demos Cathy recorded by herself, and brought with her, fully formed, into the studio. Over the three years since the release of Something Ilk, Cathy had learned how to have more faith in the songs themselves, and this time, with the help of engineer Liam Howe of Sneaker Pimps, the end result didn't stray far from her original vision. Hit singles like 'Sing for your Supper', and 'Reuben' ( a no 1 radio hit) had a depth and emotional touch that she'd been hiding, and there was a confidence in her live shows, too, that won her many new converts. 2 free downloads

| 17. | SpudShow 422 - Analena | Music supplied via IodaPromonet Group - Analena Track 1 - Valley of Things Artist Bio ANALENA was born in the fall of 1997 and decided to exist as a band worthy of its name. The term ANALENA comes from the ancient Sanskrit, and translates as "like/by the fire". Too many great bands from this area succumbed to lack of enthusiasm, shortage of record labels and "infrastructure" in general, and last but not least, apathy. Members of ANALENA decided to be a different kind of band, the one that would keep the fire alive. Although based in Zagreb, Croatia and rooted in punk rock ethos, ANALENA as a band was willing and determined to shatter many boundaries from the very beginning. It is symbolic that members of the band come from two countries, Croatia and Slovenia, and it comes as no surprise that during these 7 years neither listeners nor critics were able to strictly define and label their sound. In the case of this band, one man's hardcore is another man's noise is another man's punk. Diverse but steady, from bittersweet melodies and blistering hooks to pummeling and aggressive rhythms, ANALENA covers all the bases. ANALENA worked hard from the start. Ana, Mijo, Miran, Six and Zet played towns many people wouldn't even be able to locate on the map, and beside playing all over Croatia, they also toured Europe a couple of times. They supported local scene through activism and providing help to many local

| 18. | SpudShow 421 - Isaboe | Music supplied by MusicAlley Artist - Isaboe Track 1 - Calling to You Get the music from iTunes Info As a mostly self taught musician, Isaboe has been composing songs since she picked up the guitar at 14. Her foray into musicianship was at around 5 yrs when her Dad taught her to play paradiddles on the snare drum of his old 50's Ludwig drumkit, complete with leather heads. Not long after, her Mum took all the kids to piano classes, but this came to an abrupt holt when their teacher moved to Africa. A host of other extra curricula activities like ballet classes and sports were starting to hog the attention. So for some years, aside from tinkering on the family piano or tuning into the radio, the musical inclination mostly lay dormant. This all changed in highschool with music class on the timetable, and a whole new social life exposing another world of musical tastes and influences. Pulling out the old Ludgwig, drums became the most exciting indoor sport on the planet. Bashing away to The Police, a musical discovery from her older sister's boyfriend, Isaboe's enthusiasm convinced Dad that it was time to buy a drumkit of her own (lest he might end up with a hole in his leather heads). It was about this time she pulled out an old classical guitar from her sister's cupboard and started to learn from chord books and working out songs by ear. Not long after, she also took up saxophone lessons. Jazz was added to her growing repertoie of musical tastes. Henceforth, music became her favourite pastime, and over the following years she wrote many songs, dabbling in garage bands and producing a few studio demos and many multi-track home recordings in the process. With a massive catalogue of songs of varying genres under her compositional belt, it was time to share her music with others. |

| 21. | SpudShow 418 - Little Invisibles | Music supplied via ArielPublicity Artist - Little Invisibles Track 1 - Breathless Get the music from iTunes About “I’ve always been drawn to the darker sides of art and music,” says Little Invisibles vocalist Gina Degnars. “Even back when I started taking piano lessons, when I was seven years old—I always wanted to play the minor chords, not the major ones. There’s a powerful beauty in darkness, I think.” So there is, from Chopin to Poe to Twilight. And it’s that same dark, powerful beauty that resonates throughout Little Invisibles’ brand of hauntingly melodic alternative pop. With Gina’s aching voice and poignant keyboard at the fore, the band’s epic, sweeping songs rise and swell like waves on a moonlit shore until they crash over the listener like a sea of Byronic heartbreak. Five of these impossibly moving songs—all composed, like the rest of the group’s music, by Gina—make up Closer, Little Invisibles’ stunning debut. A dramatic unveiling if ever there was, Closer, which Gina co-produced, is a veritable jewel box of wide-screen modern rock. Within: jaw-dropping riches like the opener, “Breathless,” all ghostly piano, soaring vocals, and danceable trip-hop beats; the wounded-but-defiant lament “What Once Was,” the EP’s only piano-less track; and “Headrush,” a sultry duet with co-composer Lance Davis that pulses with heart-beating rhythms and gothic (small g) melodrama. If it all sounds a bit Jane Eyre, well, then why not? Gina, who’s been through the relationship mill as much as any mature artist, maintains that she’s merely allowing her romantic angst to flower into songs that are beautiful and, ultimately, redemptive and uplifting for those who hear them. “When I’m happy I never go to the piano to write,” says Gina, who holds a bachelor’s degree in piano performance and studied at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. “I write first and foremost from emotion, and after a breakup you never have to look far for inspiration. But even then there usually ends up being an element of hope in my songs.”

| 22. | SpudShow 417 - The Besties | Music supplied by IodaPromonet Group - The Besties from New York Track 1 - Prison Song
The Besties Artist Bio Marisa and Kelly grew up together on Anna Maria Island off the coast of Florida. They met in Mrs. Brockway's 2nd grade class and have been besties ever since. The girls spent their time having pancakes on the beach, singing into a tape recorder and bringing boys to the haunted house after school to make out. Meanwhile, on the other side of Florida, Rikky was growing up and doing naughty things like making out with girls and skipping school, things unbecoming of a young man whose given name was Richard Francis Walsh IV. Marisa and Kelly met Rikky in college, where he was playing in a punk band and still skipping school. The ladies took their very first keyboard course, "keyboard 101 for non-music majors" where they proved to be the worst players in the class. It was with this encouragement that shortly thereafter, Marisa and Kelly moved to New York City and started writing songs together in a band called The Besties. Rikky moved to New York and joined the party, and The Besties' trademark sound started to take shape. They didn't know any drummers, hence the keyboard drums. At first they were too scared to sing alone, hence the vocal harmonies. The Besties live together in an old knitting factory in Brooklyn. A team of friends came together in true DIY spirit to create the release. One friend offered studio time, photographer Leah Morgan turned the loft into a photo shoot and Wes Duvall headed up the art direction. The recording was mixed by The Besties, with help from fellow musician Jayme Guokas from The Snow Fairies.

Kelley Ryan Kelley Ryan
Info "I didn't do this record the rock'n'roll boy way…it's my own sound," says Kelley Ryan. Note the emphasis there—on the word "boy." Kelley Ryan, the front-woman for the California band astroPuppees and a go-to songwriter and collaborator (most recently on Marshall Crenshaw's Jaggedland), took a decidedly different approach to recording her first record under her own name. Twist is an album told from the female perspective; a theme encompassing everything from the lyrics to the instruments to the album's many moods. "I had this idea: the record was only going to be about girls, be it the daughter I never had, a heroine of my mine, my grandmother or a woman who lived near me in Ireland," says Kelley. "It's all from the feminine perspective. Even in the music – there's no electric guitars, it's just acoustic and loops and strings. I mean, I love three-minute electric-guitar pop songs, but I wanted to create something more comfortable for me and stay in that mood." But don't get the wrong idea – Twist isn't a polarizing record, a long lost Lilith Fair soundtrack or an angry feminine response a la Exile in Guyville. It's a gutsy record with ambitious production, smart collaborations (with the likes of producer Don Dixon (R.E.M., Smithereens), legendary arranger Van Dyke Parks and singer / songwriter Marti Jones), and a personal touch and warmth that crosses all musical boundaries. If anything, the album is reminiscent of something like Beck's Sea Change…which, not so coincidentally, is represented here by a cover of "Lost Cause" (more on that in a minute).

Free Track ( Lost and Delirious) click here
Info Formed by the association of singer Amélie Laflamme and musician/songwriter François Dufault, The Blue Seeds is completed by Marc Chartrain on drums, Martin Farmer on bass, Roger Miron on lead guitar and Eric Rathe on keys. Produced by François Dufault, the new album was recorded in Montreal (Canada) at Masterkut Studio and in Faenza (Italy) with the collaboration of Dustin O’Halloran (Marie-Antoinette Soundtrack, Sofia Coppola) from the American band The Devics. Recorded with an “indie” sensibility, the 11 songs comprised on the record reveal rich arrangements that include a wide variety of instruments ranging from electric guitars to analog keyboards, mellotron and vibraphone. The result is one that is unique and original. Cinematic and very evocative, each song leads the listeners into a reverie as if they were part of a fictional road movie. On stage, the band delivers an outstanding performance, pushing the songs to their fullest while leaving the audience into a daydream and sometimes stunned by the energy displayed by the musicians.

Patricia Vonne
Patricia Vonne Info Vonne is able to assert her vibrant personality within a diversity of musical and thematic modes offering "something for everyone" thanks to a lifelong immersion within a universe of music. One of 10 offspring of a drummer father of Mexican descent and a singing and guitar playing Spanish mother, she grew up in a household where "music was always a part of our lives." Her mother would quell the brood and instill them with a harmonic sense by leading them in Spanish folk songs from an early age, while also treating them to afternoons at the cinema enjoying MGM and Broadway musicals. By her early teens, Vonne was also enjoying musical input from the various sounds and styles found within her siblings' record collections. But it was artists with a particularly Texan mix such as Lone Star heroes Stevie Ray Vaughan and Joe Ely that captured her imagination. After attending her first concert by Chris Isaak sideman Johnny Reno and his Sax Maniacs, Vonne was captured by the allure of performing onstage. Then when one of her brothers brought home an album by Chicano new wave rockers The Cruzados, she discovered a modern style that reflected her identity. " They sang in English and Spanish, which made us proud of our heritage," she recalls. Moving to New York City to pursue her creative ambitions, Vonne landed a gig singing and then also playing bass in Mick & The Maelstroms, a hard-working pop-rock band on the Big Apple club circuit. By 1996, she had the confidence in her abilities to start penning songs that reflected her own musical and cultural experiences, often collaborating with her then boyfriend and now husband, Robert LaRoche from the Virgin recording act The Sighs. Hooking up with lead guitarist Kirk Brewster, a Texas transplant from the legendary Dallas band The Werewolves, Vonne formed a band that could deliver her Lone Star style with New York City intensity.

| 44. | SpudShow 404 - The Banana Sessions | Music spplied by MusicAlley Group - The Banana Sessions Track 1 - a little share Info Once upon a time there was a band. Before that, there were merely five musical folk with a shared love of fruit, tea, fun and a jaunty tune, but the fates and these shared loves brought them together. In time, ideas were scribbled, the kettle worked almost as hard as their strange musical minds, many curvy yellow fruits were eaten, and the first songs were born. These were the Banana Sessions, and so it began… The Banana Sessions sing songs of sunshine, caterpillars, brews, Buckfast, pirates and stranger encounters, plus a few unconventional interpretations of classics too (one crowd favourite being 90s techno classic No Limit by 2Unlimited). Their style is not one easily described, but they have been described in their time as folky, proggy, breezy, bouncy, jazzy, quirky, and ‘unashamedly good fun’. Whatever genre they may be, the band have rapidly gained a reputation as purveyors of quality musicianship with equal quantities of humour in Edinburgh and beyond. |

In her second year of Uni she took the step to buy a guitar and worked through open mic nights and busking the cobbled and famous Royal Mile, honing her skills and testing out new styles before breaking into the ....Edinburgh.... gig scene. Playing in venues such as Henry Cellar Bar, Bannermans and The Ark as well as a stint in Glasgow's Liquid Ship, Antonia caught the performing bug and started to develop her own blend of folk/rock/pop with a large focus on creative lyrics.

| 52. | SpudShow 398 - Betty Wright | Music supplied by IodaPromonet Artist - Betty Wright Track 1 - Pull your pants up Label - Ms.B Records/ Miami Spice Publishing Info Betty Wright (born December 21, 1953, in Miami, Florida) is a soul and R&B singer, who has influenced a generation of female singer-songwriters. The hottest members of the hip hop generation (including Tupac, DMX, and Li'l Wayne) have sampled some of her more famous material. Born singing gospel with family group the Echoes of Joy, Wright began switching to R&B music in 1965 when she was only 11. In 1968, she released her first album, My First Time Around, at the age of 15, and scored her first hit, "Girls Can’t Do What Guys Can Do". But it was not until the end of 1971 that Wright’s most successful phase of her career took place. The song, "Clean Up Woman", became a Top 5 pop and R&B hit, and would later influence a remix of Mary J. Blige’s "Real Love" single with the sample of its guitar riffs; R&B girl group trio SWV’s "I’m So Into You" also featured a sample from "Clean Up Woman," as did Afrika Bambaataa’s song "Zulu War Chant", and Sublime’s "Get Out!" remix. Beyonce has sampled "Girls Can’t Do What The Guys Do" for her hit "Upgrade U". In 1974, Wright scored big with the songs "Tonight is the Night" (about a real-life love affair that happened with Wright when she was a teenager) and "Where is the Love" (which won her a Grammy for Best R&B Song). In the early 1980s, she founded her own record label, Ms. B Records, and in 1988 made music history by being the first woman to have a gold record on her own label, with the release of Mother Wit, which featured two of her biggest hits in years, "No Pain No Gain" and the "After The Pain." On both songs, Wright displays her powerful upper register capabilities and seven-octave range. By 2001 a compilation album The Very Best of Betty Wright was released, along with her first studio album for several years, Fit for a King. Still recording music to this day, she now mentors several young singers, and has done vocal production for the likes of Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez and Joss Stone. She has also been seen on MTV as part of Diddy's hit series Making the Band.

| 59. | SpudShow 396 - Jessie Murphy in the Woods | Music supplied by ArielPublicity Group - Jessie Murphy in the Woods Track 1 - New York City Lights from RexRecords Info At the helm is singer/guitarist /songwriter Jessie Murphy- a critically acclaimed veteran of the NYC anti-folk scene. In 2008, while working on her Masters Degree in Music at Columbia University, she met and befriended Marcia Wood (Wurlitzer, flute, clarinet, harmonica, pan pipes and vocals) and Amy Wood (horn, cajon/percussion, flute, melodica, autoharp and vocals). Jessie, Marcia, and Amy are all NYC music teachers(just in case the plethora of musical instruments didn’t tip you off). Amy recalls “from the first time the three of us played together, it was just easy, noticeably so”. Marcia says, “When I heard Jessie’s lyrics, it impacted my playing, it was easy to picture sounds when I was working with her.” Jessie states proudly, “We had that magic thing right away, the right vibe and the right sound. We knew very quickly that we were a band.”And so The Woods were born. Sessions soon began for the trio’s debut album, Eight Belles. The first song “When I Am A Horse Again” is a lament to that perfect day so long ago. It is a sound out of time, classical performers playing pop forms, creating a swirling and mystical atmosphere that perfectly supports the lyrics. So far girls have toured the UK (where they were featured on Cambridge University Radio) and have played shows from Ithaca NY to Los Angeles CA. Jessie Murphy In The Woods are preparing to release their debut album, Eight Belles, in late Fall of 2009. The album is a gorgeous showcase for the players, emotionally affecting without becoming cloying or overly sweet. The final and title track of the album, 8 Belles, is a eulogy to a filly who died on the racetrack during 2008’s Kentucky Derby. In between are nine other songs about life, love, and horses. Jessie Murphy In The Woods has become a world unto themselves. Jessie enthuses, “The more time we spend and sing together, the more unified we become, and the more we have to give in our performances. We’re discovering the realm of our music as it happens.” Marcia says, “There’s a chamber like quality to our shows, a shared sense of intimacy.” On Eight Belles, you hear the sounds and magic of a band coming together. If their music sounds like a fairy tale, it’s fitting, for it's in its own glorious place and time. Now saddle up and ride along, it’s a long way to forever.

Three albums and multiple tours stretching across almost a decade for founder Hamish Thomson have seen The Hermit’s sound change and evolve, whilst bonds with trusted band-mates Jon Frederiksen (bass), Robert Mitchell (keyboards), and Duane Murrin (guitars) have been strengthened and new vocalist Red welcomed into the fold. Founded in the year 2000 by Vancouver drummer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Thomson, The Hermit began life as a solo electronic project, so called because of the reclusive life Thomson led during the creation of his debut album “Flying out of Solitude”. A successful independent release led to multiple West Coast Music Award nominations and a label deal with Nettwerk Records. The five members of The Hermit now stand together stronger than ever, fortified by the creative journey with all of its unexpected twists and turns. The Hermit stands proud as a solo studio project that grew into an award-winning band. With the release of Turn Up (The Stereo) - a new album featuring vocalists from the past and present – The Hermit simultaneously marks the end of one journey and embraces a new beginning. from "Turn Up (The Stereo)" (So Called Recordings) from "manoeuvres 1 - a collection of vancouver electronica" (So Called Recordings) from "Turn Up (The Stereo)" (So Called Recordings)

| 70. | SpudShow 391 - Liechtenstein | Music supplied by IodaPromonet Label Slumberland Records Group - Liechtenstein Track 1 - Roses in the Park Shows in November
Info In 2005 Renée, Naemi and Teresa started playing together as Liechtenstein. Influenced by British 80s bands like Talulah Gosh, Dolly Mixture, Mo-Dettes, Girls At Our Best and Shop Assistants, they released their debut 7” single “Stalking Skills” on Fraction Discs in 2007. The title track made quite a buzz in the indiepop world and a frequent gigging around in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany and United Kingdom followed. Around that time Elin joined the band on drums. In the summer of 2008 second guitarist and vocalist Teresa left the band and the others continued as a three piece. In the autumn 2008 Fraction Discs released their second 7” single “Apathy”, and a video was made for the flipside “Security By Design”. “Apathy” showed a new diversity with its gorgeous vocal harmonies over soft pop melodies. It sounds all cosy, yet this is an angry protest songs. It’s songs like these that have gained Liechtenstein a true fan base, bringing back that heavenly pop sound from back then …and at the same time commenting upon the very time we’re living in. A third single was released in February 2009, this time a three track CDR on Drill Building. Starting rapidly, paying a musical tribute to Talulah Gosh, over a shoegazey dystopia to a 48 second post punk song, you start to get the idea of a Liechtenstein album: filled with Pop melodies, elegantly arranged vocal harmonies – and a bundle of short story observations. In May 2009 their album "Survival Strategies In A Modern World" was released on Fraction Discs and Slumberland (US) on CD and 10". from "Survival Strategies In A Modern World" (Slumberland) from "Survival Strategies In A Modern World" (Slumberland) from "Searching for the Now 5" (Slumberland) Irish language social network - AnLionra |

| 75. | SpudShow 389 - Dragonette | music supplied by IodaPromonet Group - Dragonette Track 1 - I get around from "Galore" (I Surrender Records) from "Fixin to Thrill" (Dragonette Inc) Info Through a few strokes of fortune, their first public appearances were baptisms of fire in the deep end of concert-dom. Their second-ever show was supporting New Order at NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom, followed by a US tour supporting Duran Duran. All after recording just 2 songs in their basement. Dragonette eventually signed a record deal, and, like fellow Canadians Peaches (who they know) and Gonzales (with whom Dan went to school), headed for Europe. The band decamped to London with Joel and hooked up with guitarist Will (the British quarter of Dragonette), where they honed their small but perfectly-formed, all-killer-no-filler repertoire. Ruthless perfectionists, they explain that “We don’t have any spare songs. We write songs till they’re finished, then we kill off other ones. It’s not like we picked 10 out of a possible 20 for the album.” The results are a dirty, hook-heavy, electropop album called Galore with monsters like “I Get Around” and “Competition”, depicting a world of guilt-free pleasure mixed with an 80s party prowess. Martina isn’t interested in writing, she says, “songs to get depressed to.” As Dan puts it, “It’s hard enough working on songs that are *fun*. I can’t even imagine what it‘s like working on miserable material…” The record has received praise from such diverse sources as the NME. UK dailies the Observer, Times and Guardian, online pop bible popjustice, and has garnered multiple mentions from Perez Hilton (whose showcase the band performed at during last year’s SXSW).

Emotional guitar sounds and scintilating vocal arrangements are part of the essence of music that is as much pop as transcendental and electronic. The twin sound clouds of film scores and songs reflect their personal journey. Each one of their albums has a completely unique sound and purpose. As a producer, Dold has given both Enya and Nelly Furtado number one hits, has worked with Paul Van Dykl, Cindy Lauper and others... After Aurah's release SONGS OF THE ALCHEMIST Martin took pen and paper on the grassy knolls of Griffith Park in Los Angeles and began writing KISMET. The trippie sounds share the reflective essence being both intimate and universal. Aurah went on to compose the film score for the award-winning feature film Loving Annabelle and various short films. A handful of releases already in the hands of those of the clued up record buying cognoscenti and an album in the shape of ’Libellus’ currently doing the rounds which we suspect we’ll have to nail as our own just so that we can get a peaceful nights sleep safe in the knowledge that its within easy reach of our hi-fi. Clearly freefalling in the vapour trails left by the likes of Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond) and Regina Spektor, Rendall is clearly touched with a rare and exquisite sense of artistry, both playfully tender and primed with a sense of theatre and classicism much like a youthful Kate Bush, ’lay me down’ is clipped with an eerie enchantment, both demurring and demanding yet spellbinding and sultry, the torch like treatments throughout abridged and sweetly countered by an innate passion that swirls with a subtle though hitherto intoxicating tide rushing dramatic tension - and apologies for ruining the mood so far but it just has to be said - its as horny as hell. Those wanting to hear more - and we strongly suspect you do want more - are advised to head forthwith over to www.myspace.com/tallulahrendall and fill your boots with the near divinely siren-esque ethereal folk rocking ’only you’. Of these women are: Candy Diaz Yasuda: a singer/song writer with a penchant for old torch jazz Under the collective title, The Girlas, Kelli, Candy, & Carly began collaborating amongst one another to create a genre of music that incorporates all aspects of their individual skill. The debut release of “Now of Never” was met with much appreciated enthusiam. Jamie Winnpenny of the Honolulu Weekly wrote, “Their lyrical content is poignant rather than preachy, their instrumental prowess is informed rather than forced and their harmonies are inspired.” Wayne Harada of the Honolulu Advertiser said, “"The harmonies are sweet; the lingering passions sweeter. Think Na Leo with attitude and soul. The Girlas are great because they're both unpredictable and prolific." John Berger of the Star Bulletin had this to say, “Each introspective composition seems more exquisite than the other. Whether they're singing of heartbreak, troubled relationships or an enigmatic encounter with angels, the Girlas are an enchanting discovery for fans of smooth pop music.” Irish language social network - AnLionra

| 86. | SpudShow 384 - ApSci | music supplied via IodaPromonet Group - ApSci Track 1 - Big Adventures
ApSci ApSci Artist Bio Best Crisis Ever, the new album from trans-continental ApSci (pronounced APP-sigh), was begun in a Brooklyn apartment overlooking a coffee factory in 2006, and finished in a Sydney apartment by the beach in 2008. While 2005’s Thanks for Asking was a collabo-rich hip-hop-electro diary with guests spanning from indie-rap pinch hitters Mr. Lif and Pigeon John to the bandleaders of TV On The Radio and Antibalas, the new record has been executed almost entirely by the duo, Australian-Filipina Dana Diaz-Tutaan and the Irish-Italian, Bronx-born Raphael LaMotta. It’s a louder, catchier and more expansive take on ApSci’s unique combination of electro, hip-hop and quirky pop, relying heavier on songwriting and a combination of vintage drum machine sounds, synths and guitars. It’s equal parts New York bravado and Australian charm, reflecting the respective hometowns of each, and how the duo, despite the nearly opposite lifestyle and pace of the cities, have managed to comfortably straddle both for nearly a decade. A little history: the Iate 90s, summertime in New York. Nuyorican Poet’s Cafe, Rocksteady Reunion, Baby Jupiter were the places that mattered to a devoted scene. Solesides, Company Flow, Mike Ladd and Antipop Consortium were underground brainiac heroes. Open mics and street cyphers were a vibrant and common occurrence in every borough, and people came from all over the world to experience the city’s late-era hip-hop renaissance. It was in this context that Dana, who was then visiting New York, met Raphael. Although their fi rst encounter wasn’t exactly congenial (“I was in a weird mood,” Ra explains. “He was rude,” Dana counters), they were a part of a tight circle of performers and often found themselves on the same bill, or in the same crowd, or freestyling on the same corners. Soon studio time was booked, pager numbers were exchanged, and before long they were collaborators, writing and recording their own unique material.

| 88. | SpudShow 382 - Elle Stevenson | Artist - Elle Stevenson New Album 'Coming Home' out this week Track 1 - Almost Forgiven Get the music from iTunes or AmazonMp3 Info At the centre of the music is her voice - best described by the terms "fragile", "ethereal" and "haunting" - which provides an apt vehicle for songs which betray a rare kind of honesty. Stevenson certainly doesn't shy away from wearing her heart on her sleeve and her songs have, at times, been described as "lyrically raw". Yet, they are so carefully framed by those trademark cascading piano lines that the incongruity of the music and lyrics merely draw the listener to the place where catharsis and redemption finally meet. While comparisons to other artists reveal little about Elle's unique direction, she does list an impressive range of influences of artists whom she admires, including the likes of: Suzanne Vega, Justin Currie, Crowded House, the Dixie Chicks, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Alanis Morisette, Sarah McLachlan, Gillian Welch, Tracy Chapman, Angie Stevens, Sheryl Crow, Ryan Adams, Bill Mallonee, Bryan Adams, Coldplay, Rascal Flatts, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Editors, The Fray, OneRepublic, The Beautiful South; not to mention a few you might not expect, such as Shirley Bassey and Take That! To date, Elle has supported many artists on the local Irish music scene, as well as those of international acclaim, such as guitar legends Rodrigo y Gabriela and pop/soul diva, Beverley Knight. With the fast-approaching release date for her debut album, however, Elle is unlikely to be the supporting artist for much longer and the expectation is that it won't be long before you're hearing a lot, lot more from this talented lady.... Elle's debut album "Coming Around" goes on general release Monday 21st September 2009.

In true Rock ‘n’ Roll style Sunsoma has endured a healthy number of line up changes but their resolve to keep pushing on has never diminished. “ Stuff happens and you’ve got two choices- winge or go with it! “ says Mel “ music is the most amazing art form on the entire planet and we just love what we do “ Last October the band weathered one such change, and found themselves ‘going with it’ as they swiftly downsized into the compact yet fully in tact 3 piece that they are today. Having shaken the dust and with creativity levels positively thriving, these three have, it seems, become more tight knit than a woollen wetsuit.

She realized that if she was feeling strongly enough to dignify a situation with a song there must be others who could relate and benefit from hearing their own story. "There are so many songs out there that are reflective of negative issues of people's lives. I want to connect with the positive." A primarily self-taught musician, she plays guitar, hand percussion, and most uncommonly, the mandolin. For those listeners looking for something refreshing, Amanda delivers. She infuses the pop country structure with a folkier sound than most current artists. But what really sets her apart from the rest is her dedication to simplicity and her traditionally acoustic sound, reminicent of the bluegrass style. |

Hailing as lead singer of local groove and acid-rap band The Janissary, Lang has complimented her mysterious nature by presenting a whole other facet of musical capability. The much anticipated release of her solo album, Lovers and Thieves (Digital release July 1 2009), is a showcase to her demure yet candid femininity. | 119. | SpudShow 368 - Moth Complex | Group - Moth Complex from Ireland Track 1 - "Learned My Lesson", which is the lead track from our "Error 256" EP Info Moth Complex is an electronic rock band fronted by singer/songwriter, Aoife O'Leary. Moth Complex combines Aoife's powerful and gentle voice with off-kilter electronics and bruising rock. It's a sound of contrasting elements - at times loud and intense, at others pretty and soft - with each element complimenting and highlighting the other. Based in Dublin, Ireland, Aoife began writing songs for Moth Complex with the idea of combining a propulsive sound with a hard, cold edge with open and bared melodies and words. She approached Gerry Owens to work with her, having known his writing and production on Skindive. Together they defined their sound and wrote the songs for Moth Complex. The live show is the perfect place to explore the varied musical elements in Moth Complex and here, Aoife is joined by Dave Kavanagh (guitar), Eoin Markey (bass) and Damien Murphy (drums).

They became good friends because of their common pursuits as songwriters and musicians. Roman, who had been influenced by the guitar gods of classic rock Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page, was then listening heavily to Elliott Smith and the Flaming Lips. Meredith, who was initially struck by the raw attitude of Nirvana, Hole and L7, was then immersed in the Riot Grrrl scene and bands like Team Dresch and Sleater Kinney. After a few semesters of college together, Roman left to pursue music full time and they lost touch. Five years later, he called Meredith and she called him back twice. Within a few weeks, they began writing and recording music together with no real objective in mind other than to satisfy their own creative impulses. After playing a loose experimental set of new material at a local show in April 2006, they began actively recording their self-released debut album “Credito O No Credito”. Both Roman and Meredith are multi-instrumental, singer/songwriters with keen ears for rhythm and melody. Together, they have composed an album of music that ranges from classic rock and grunge to dub and electronica. Each song is an imaginative soundscape that captivates and entertains. Currently, they are busy filming a few videos and writing/recording their follow up album "Suck a D". Irish language social network - AnLionra

Get the music from CdBaby Info Born and raised in Denver, I am the youngest of four daughters born to a singing preacher and his pianist-singer wife. Music is in my DNA, along with Christian spirituality and a healthy daily dose of all things theological. I "became a Christian" just a few months after I learned to walk, and was fairly certain that life would be a bag of tootsie pops thereafter, especially since the day I got saved my mom let me jump on the bed. So when a silly boy broke my heart during my junior year of high school, I was all but ruined at the tender age of 16. God became elusive and un-knowable, His presence with me questionable at best, and faith became something I’d have to, for the first time, hash out and make my own. So, against the soundtrack of the brutal but beautiful honesty of artists like Jennifer Knapp and Sixpence None the Richer, I set out to find a connector between what I knew in my head and what I was experiencing in real-life that seemed to contradict intellect at every turn. I researched and wrote the high school equivalent of a dissertation on the resurrection of Christ, and in so doing discovered the importance of having a personal faith based in reason. And I honed in on my love for writing poetry, decrying the pain of relationships, religion, and human depravity and finiteness, learning the importance of allowing the spirit the freedom to abandon reason and express what only a creative God could understand. When I’m playing guitar – that’s the essence of who I am.” Influenced by everything from modern artists like KT Tunstall and a few classic rock artists, Cupéro saves her biggest praise for the Columbian rock artist Juanes, a winner of seventeen Latin Grammys and who has sold over ten million albums. They are currently under the radar. In fact, both the radar and the band are unaware of each other. The band plays electro, rock, shoegazer, geek, pop music - and the radar continues to serve as a metaphor for bands that have made lots of money versus those that will forever be "emerging." The band is made up of John Payne(guitar/vox), Katie Johnston(vox/accordion/kazoo), Chris Tempas(synth/programming), and Mark Annotto(drums). From a hamlet nestled on the corner shores of Brooklyn, Puppetbox has honed its sound to create beguiling pop melodies, but with a distinctive buzzy synth/guitar sound. Following a successful EP, Puppetbox released their eponymous album which expanded their songwriting to include array of styles and genres. The album, Runtime_Error! features songs ranging from hard electro-rock to infectious dance; the album moves relentlessly forward and includes shockingly original instrumentals all mixed seamlessly together into a gapless album. The band's goal is to make songs that they would love to listen to – and they only listen to music that is awesome. Irish language social network - AnLionra

from "Breasticles" (Tony Visconti Productions) from "Enemy" (Tony Visconti Productions) info What’s black and white and can crush you like a bug? A piano. These monsters weigh anywhere from 300 lbs for a small upright, to four or even five times that for a concert grand. So why do artists let them sound so wimpy? KRISTEENYOUNG wants the piano to kick your ass. Their new album, Music for Strippers, Hookers, and the Odd On-Looker, feels like it was born in the boxing ring, not some sun-dappled Laurel Canyon living room. “I wanted to create a new sound for piano on this album, and for it to be just as powerful and creative as any guitar-based record. I wanted it to sound like a wall of pianos, but like the wall in the film, Caligula: a wall that moves and decapitates everyone,” says Kristeen Young. The singer and composer has played since her childhood in St. Louis, and she knows what the piano is capable of. She sought to recapture the fiery, dangerous noise early rockers like Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino wrought from the instrument’s eighty-eight keys, albeit in a wholly modern way. Young’s foil in KRISTEENYOUNG is drummer “Baby” Jef White, whose energy and fills bring to mind the great British drummers, but whose groove is undeniably American. Together, the duo has forged a sound full of percussive impact and melodic grandeur. You think the White Stripes make a big ruckus for a two-piece? Bah! “Stop Thinking” is anchored by low-end tone clusters that pummel like thunder. Yet Music for Strippers… has moments of startling simplicity, too, as on its closer, “Halfway Across the Atlantic Ocean.” “An album should be a spectrum of emotion,” says Young. “Far too often, people just deliver one thing. I try to run the gamut.” Irish language social network - AnLionra

Although her writing began in high school, Jennings’ surge in musical expression started after the sudden death of her mother. “This tragedy rocked me to the core, but there is so much beauty in what it allowed me to do,” she says. “All of my emotions came pouring out in the form of melody.” At the time, her father, a former musician, gave her the option to go through therapy or record an album. He knew both would be equally helpful to her, but by recording her music, she would be able to have something to hold on to and share with others for a lifetime. With “Femtastic” and now "Storybook EP" complete, Jennings has built on the lessons of her life and musical journey and courageously perfected the delicate balance between vulnerability, honesty and grit. “I believe that the difference between an artist and the average person is a fearless and relentless willingness to expose their quarks, oddities, secrets, and passions for all of the world to see and hear.” Jennings is certainly no exception to the rule. Her voice and words are her ways of expressing happiness, mourning, anxiety, anger, and excitement, allowing her listeners to laugh, cry, and live every one of her emotions. Although she is small in stature, Jennings’ music reflects an enormous strength and drive that is uniquely hers. Irish language social network - AnLionra

All members of Soraia bring to the group a wide array of influences culminating into the unique sound and energy they release: Old, New bluesy, soulful, hard-hitting, ALIVE rock n’ roll. The spirit and tones are familiar, yet the integrity of their music and live performance are extraordinary: five unique personalities sharing passion for a harder, rawer rock sound. This is a band that is on the road as much as possible, constantly improving upon their live shows and building following. They've found pockets of fans in most college towns, and continue to build on successes through hard work, focus, and passion for what they do. They've spent the last two years playing festivals, touring the Midwest and South, and working closely on songwriting and recording with producer, Obie O'Brien. In his review of the record, Anthony Kuzminski declares, ”Soraia are not hopping on any bandwagons, they merely check vintage classic rock riffs and find a way to swathe them into a package that is intoxicating and enthralling. There is a profound depth to the lyrics …enhanced by the layered roars of guitars that make you yearn for a time where albums and artists ruled the landscape…. the real star is Mansour’s cooing vocals paired with the elliptical lyrics which combined make Shed the Skin a harrowing, endearing and essential album….”

from "Spilt Milk" (Sugar Rush - Sol Records) from "Spilt Milk" (Sugar Rush - Sol Records) from "Spilt Milk" (Sugar Rush - Sol Records) Info Tara Simmons grew up on a five acre hobby farm on the flats at the foot of the Blue Mountains, her world bordered by a tapestry woven from captivating, haunting, simple sounds. In her mind, she’s never left. Little Tara was a solitary lass, but always looking for ways to channel her talent. When she was four, she parroted her brother playing violin to the point where she was sent to lessons of her own. At the age of nine, she nagged her cello-playing mother to be let loose on that instrument as well. And by the time she started high school, she’d had eight different piano teachers – seven of whom were ill-equipped to deal with her short attention span, her intolerance for ‘My Grandfather’s Clock’ and other basic piano pieces, and her roaming mind. All the while, she honed her delicate voice in the Australian Youth Choir’s chamber ensemble. Throughout her teens, Simmons fiddled after hours with illegal cracks of Logic and Cubase on her home computer, experimenting with electronic beats and found sounds, and blending them with the instruments she’d known all her life. And all the while, she was writing - letting spikes of emotion carry her away to a different realm, from which she always returned with a song. Her questing nature eventually led her to leave home to further her studies of music production. In 2005, now based in Brisbane, she unleashed her compositions on an unready public from behind a giant hard-drive and screen at a venue in the River City’s Fortitude Valley. So fraught was that performance that she didn’t take the stage again for another year, instead choosing to continually tweak her seven-track debut EP Pendulum. Convinced it wasn’t quite ready to leave the nest, Simmons all but shelved it.

from "Patience" (Skywriting Records) from "Patience" (Skywriting Records) Info Although their tunes are reminiscent of, say, the riot grrl and Seattle/Portland-based garage movements, they still could only exist in present times...Their songs are, for the most part, up-tempo odes to not-so-simple pleasures and guilt and sometimes feel emotionally ambivalent…This is truly the kind of music you'd want on a Walkman when traversing long distances in the suburbs.California Aggie August 2006 The first thing I noticed while listening, is that the sound quality is without many common bells and whistles similar bands tend to overuse. Not really lo-fi but close enough to keep this music out of the pop category and in the garage where it belongs. Milk Milk Lemonade April 2007 Yea-Ming’s jangly guitars bring to mind early rock-and-roll as strongly as they do twee music, and the rhythm section provided by Anna and now-in-Seattle Emily can create a great garage-punk beat as adeptly as they can provide support during a quieter number...The album’s ten tracks cover the gamut of tempos and tones, but the basic elements that make a Dreamdate song–great relationship-examining lyrics, tight instrumentals, and sweet vocal harmonies–are on display in all ten. Robin Stine's music seduces with a whiff of subtle perfume and a casual graze of her hand as she walks past, leaving the listener powerless to do anything but follow. As a singer, her voice floats on the stylish edge of contemporary cool—light, but never lightweight. As a songwriter, her enchanting originals set her in the upper echelon of today's songwriters. Born and raised in Kansas City, Robin began her musical journey as a child singing in school groups and church choirs. When she left for college she had no idea that music would take her around the world. For three of her collegiate years she performed with gospel groups, traveling across the U.S. as well as in Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Hong Kong and China. She then moved to Miami in 1996 to begin her graduate studies. During this time she performed with “Mike Suman’s Swing City” and her own band “Simply Stellar” at festivals, hotels and clubs throughout South Florida. In 2003 she moved to Pensacola to focus on the next phase of her musical career—writing and recording her original music. Her debut album Daydream is a sleek collection of a dozen original jazzy, bluesy numbers that immediately sound like comfortable standards. The melancholy title track “Daydream”, the only co-write on the album, was written with Chris Whiteman at the University of Miami. The album's other originals were written over a six-month period while Robin rebuilt her home in the wake of Hurricane Ivan. “These songs are very personal. They were gifts from ‘the muses’ of genuine emotion, faith and hope—and they’re my gift to the world.” Irish language social network - AnLionra

| 161. | SpudShow 344 - The Blow | music supplied by PodSafeNusicNetwork Group - The Blow Track 1 - Jet Ski Accidents Bio Khaela Maricich is a pop musician, visual artist, and performer. She works in the cracks between pop music and performance art, bouncing between the genres to suck out the juicier parts of either world. She creates operatic performance pieces using the conversational style of popular music. She has toured the United States extensively performing her monologue based solo opera, "Blue Sky versus Night Sky", as well as giving traditional concerts of dance-party music with her band, The Blow. Under the banner of The Blow, (currently with bandmate Jona Bechtolt), Maricich has released five albums of music, crossing styles from folk to elecronic radio style hits. She has held a number of exhibitions of drawings and illuminated paper sculptures in Seattle, Olympia, and Portland. A native of Queen Anne Hill, Maricich spent an incubative decade in Olympia, but recently moved from her cosy home there to Portland, in order to be the artist in residence at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. Her goings-on can be read about on her blog, at WWW.THETOUCHMEFEELING.COM. Jona Bechtolt is a technological multi talent. His sound and video production can be found generously scattered throughout the internet, and in numerous popular live incarnations. With his project, YACHT, he makes textural dance-based compositions and performances, described by some as a "positive energy rainbow dome music from a next-generation west coast healer." He documents its movement via video, text, and images on his deeply archival and well-maintained blog, www.teamyacht.com. Currently, he is one half of The Blow, a constantly recording and touring pop mammoth music duo. In 2003, he was commissioned to create a full length audio/visual electronic pop opera by The Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA), which he performed with his bandmate M. Ritchey. In 2005, he co-created, filmed, directed and edited an internet based reality show, The Ultimate Blogger, on which bloggers from around the world competed to win the illustrious title. The sequel, The Ultimate Blogger 2, is currently in production and is sweeping the nation once again. In January of 2006 he was commissioned for two performances for the New York based art and technology platform, Rhizome.org, as part of their "Crap-tops vs Laptops" show in New York. In February of 2006 he performed at MoMA's PS1 and produced an hour-long internet radio program with Clear Cut Press; a northwest-based publisher of new literary work. He has toured the United States and Canada extensively with his own projects, as well as a number of other bands. Most recently he played drums on Devendra Banhart's European festival tour, to audiences numbering in the tens of thousands. Irish language social network - AnLionra

In her early teenage years, Sussie became a fan of the music of Clannad. She had, at that time, no particular ambition as far as music was concerned, being mainly interested in the body and physical therapy; an interest which led to a qualification as physical education teacher and masseuse. Returning from her first trip to Ireland, Sussie brought home a heap of music, and began to sing and to play the bodhrán. A steadily growing interest in the music, including sean-nós ( old style ) singing and gaelic song, led Sussie back to Ireland. In 2002, she started at the Irish World Music Centre, University of Limerick, where she took an M.A. in Irish Traditional Music Performance under the direction of Professor Michéal Ó Súilleabhain. Her teachers included many fine singers, among these being Padraigín Ní Uallacháin, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Karan Casey and Len Graham. She has received excellent reviews and several nomination for the Danish Music Awards 2004 and 2005. Clear as glass and glowing

Clara grew up in a household where she was saturated in the essence of instrumentation and true musicianship. As a solidified Jazz fan, Clara's father exposed her to the musical artistry of such industry Legends who include Zappa, The Beatles, Mahalia Jackson, Bob Dylan, Fats Waller and Miles Davis. That said, we would liken ourselves (if we have to) to a darker Rilo Kiley, a rockier Death Cab for Cutie, a girlier We Are Scientists, a wordier Jimmy Eat World. Other people have likened us to Mazzy Starr, The Cardigans, The Postal Service, 10,000 Maniacs, jj72 - so if you shake all that up you might get some kind of idea. We like to sing (except Benji who will only sing on his own, in a car). We like to get loud when we can (Tubescreamers are good!). We only play music that makes us feel something, in our gut. We like music that's honest. We're mostly Irish, partly Cornish (not corny!). We live in London. We really like playing music, everywhere we can

The Las Vegas based, nineteen-year-old Pop/R&B artist has taken on countless challenges in her young life and career, and has successfully met every single one. Determined to make a better life for herself, Christelle immigrated to America in 2006, initially with the goal of becoming a dental hygienist. Settling in Las Vegas, she immediately faced an enormous challenge – the language barrier. She explains, “It was a very difficult transition. from "The Remix Game" (Quango) from "The Mating Game" (Quango) Artist Bio There is something mesmerizing and indisputable about things in life that come together by the mystery of fate – be it a personal relationship, an artistic endeavor, or a simple matter of being in the right place at the right time. When all three converge, the result is something that goes beyond any realm of possibility … Such is the story of Los Angeles music duo BITTER:SWEET (Shana Halligan and Kiran Shahani) whose lives seemed to have over-lapped but never crossed until the perfect moment in time. How else can you explain two people who lived one block away from each other, and who recorded just one wall away, who never connected until an anonymous online posting? When Kiran (producer, composer) and Shana (vocals, melodies, lyrics, co-producer) met, they were both “not that into” the L.A. music scene. “There was a time when I had even stopped listening to music,” explains Shana. “But sometimes you’re just meant to do things in life...” As a Southern California native, Shana had just returned home from “having a beautiful experience” in Europe when she decided to answer her first-ever ad for a singer. Not only was it an ad, it was on Craig’s List! The accomplished musician had grown up with music in her blood – her father is eight-time Grammy Award winning composer Dick Halligan of Blood, Sweat & Tears – and she had started her singing career at age seven by performing in films and television commercials. Later on, she performed live throughout the United States and Europe in addition to composing music for television shows and soundtracks (most recently she is featured on the Buckethead album singing a duet with Serj Tankian of System Of A Down).

| 181. | SpudShow 335 - Chrissy Coughlin | music supplied by ArielPublicity Artist - Chrissy Coughlin Track 1 - Back to You Buy the music at CDBaby Info Chrissy's seasoned voice coupled with her warm personality are an unstoppable combination. She calls to mind Sheryl Crow and Natalie Merchant with tinges of Rickie Lee Jones and Lucinda Williams. And 2008 has been a good year for this New York City based singer-songwriter. The winter was full of excitement moving to and 'officially' becoming a 'New Yorker', the spring delight of releasing her new CD, Look Ahead, and the summer and fall have been chock full of performances to support her new release. Raised in numerous places including Detroit, Kansas City, and Washington DC, Chrissy is no stranger to moving around and making things work for her. Her ease with meeting people from all different walks of life through her travels throughout the country and the world has afforded her the ability to translate those experiences into intensely thoughtful songs. Chrissy didn't start off a singer-songwriter. In fact, it was only after a post college career in the environmental field, when she allowed herself the time to sit down and to develop her craft. Music has always been in her blood as an accomplished flutist and singer but songwriting was new. And she was more than ready for the challenge. Irish language social network - AnLionra

It is available exclusively on their web site wendyandlisa.com (with unreleased bonus tracks), to be followed with CD and Limited Edition vinyl releases, as well as being made available at iTunes, Amazon MP3, and other digital music stores in March 2009. White Flags of Winter Chimneys is Wendy and Lisa’s first album since 1998’s Girl Bros. Self-produced and self-released by the duo, the album is a gorgeous kaleidoscope of song-compositions with influences ranging from trance to electronica to 70’s funk and straight up rock and roll. The renowned fine artist and graphic designer Rex Ray, whose artwork has adorned albums by David Bowie, Diamanda Galas, Deee-Lite and many others, designed the album packaging. Additionally, the packaging of the CD will be a 6-panel Digipak comprised of recycled board, printed using non-toxic vegetable based ink, and a FlexTray made from 100% post-consumer plastic (recycled soda bottles). Wendy and Lisa are also continuing in their successful television-scoring career. Currently, they are in their third season of scoring the NBC-TV hit “Heroes,” and they are taking on the scoring duties for the upcoming “Virtuality” on Fox and “Nurse Jackie” on Showtime. They have received the prestigious ASCAP award for Composer’s of the Year for their work on Dangerous Minds, the theme to HBO’s Carnivale, Crossing Jordan and Heroes. Wendy and Lisa first burst upon the consciousness of the music world in the early 80’s as part of Prince’s Revolution, where the two were Prince’s most trusted collaborators and partners for what arguably was the most seismic chapter of the legend’s career. Striking out on their own in 1986, they have released four well-regarded albums: Wendy and Lisa (1987), Fruit at the Bottom (1989), Eroica (1990), and Girl Bros. (1998). “Stevie Ray Vaughn trapped in a woman's body with Janis Joplin screaming to get out.” This is how one critic describes Kelly Richey, a blues-based rock virtuoso. Buoyed by critical praise and fiercely loyal fans, The Kelly Richey Band tours extensively bringing their electric live experience to venues throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. The attention centers around this Kentucky native’s guitar playing; Richey’s proficiency has earned her comparisons to Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan while gaining her a place on stage with blues legends, Albert King and Lonnie Mack. Richey has opened for artists such as James Brown, Johnny and Edgar Winter, and Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown. As one journalist put it, “Imagine a cross between Bonnie Raitt and Ruth Brown and you’ve only begun to get the picture.” Built on unforgettable and explosive live performances, the Kelly Richey Band has developed an almost cult-like following, with fans picking up thousands of the band’s previous releases, most notably, Eyes Of a Woman, Sending Me Angels, and the electrifying DVD, Kelly Richey Live. Since establishing her own label, Sweet Lucy Records, Richey has released ten CDs, as both a solo artist and with her band. The label has secured national and international distribution through traditional channels and embraced internet digital distribution since the beginning of it’s availability to independent artists. By the age of 5, Miranda had already jumped off a 100 foot crane thrill-ride dubbed the Sky-coaster dozens of times. She's written dozens of songs and continues to grow her catalog by the day. Her spark for singing was ignited at the mature age of three, when she was brought up on stage at church to sing with her mother. She never looked back, and for the next six years, sang and played piano at church, performed at fairs and festivals included her family's amusement park, and sang with the Willamette Girlchoir, an all-girl choir based in Salem, Oregon. “I first saw Miranda perform with the Girlchoir, and I was blown away by the pipes on this little girl,” said music producer Jason Carter. “She stood out like a shining star.” Two years later, Carter saw her performing solo at a Salem festival, and asked her parents if they’d like to bring her into the studio. The minute she stepped into the vocal booth, Miranda said, “I felt right at home." The two started production on her first demo.

| 227. | SpudShow 319 - Odi | Artist - Odi Track 1 - Superman Info ODi's story began when she uploaded some home recordings to My Space. People here, there and everywhere began to listen to her songs, loved what they heard and asked when her next gig was. Inspired by this and armed with a beautiful, raw, voice, a cheap guitar, won on ebay, and her heart on her sleeve, ODi headed down to her local venue to blag her first gig. Her story has grown from there …. …Two years on, ODi was invited to support Seth Lakeman at the Beverley Folk Festival. Along the way, the hard working Wexford woman has played over 200 gigs across the UK, Ireland and Germany. Released 2 well received singles "Crawl" and "What You Deserve" whilst developing an ever growing fanbase. She’s also managed to trade in the cheap guitar for a better one! Her captivating voice and well crafted songs have already been likened to those of Suzanne Vega and Natalie Merchant. The musical landscapes on her recordings hinting towards a female version of Damien Rice, with a touch of PJ Harvey thrown in for good measure. October sees ODi bring her new EP “A Superman” to the UK. The 5 Tracker features production input from Ken McHugh aka Autamata, (Juno Falls, David Kitt) and Karl Odlum (Fionn Regan , The Frames, Gemma Hayes) Released in Ireland during summer 2008 The title track received national and regional airplay across the Emerald isle including a feature as ‘download of the day’ on The Tony Fenton’s Today FM show. The EP also brought praise from Irish publications including Hot Press and the Galway Advertiser amongst others. ODi comes off the back of a 30 date Irish tour and heads to the UK for dates in September to promote the release of “A Superman” She then enters the studio in late 2008 to record her debut album, due for release in summer 2009.

INfo Of English, Dutch, and German descent, Doña is the offspring of a trumpet playing Episcopal Priest father and a cabaret singer mom (her best pal). Born on June 2, this Gemini is a seasoned performer. She started playing piano at age five, on a one octave toy piano. She took lessons at school without her parents knowledge. By age 6 it was apparent that Doña was serious. Her mother bought her an upright Baldwin piano - her first real piano, and by 7 she was giving concerts at school. Along the way, Doña took center stage with another talent - singing. Doña strengthened her pipes and learned her stage savvy with years of theatrical work; both regionally and Off-Broadway. With her theatrical interest, she went to New York City to study Drama at NYU, Tisch School of the Arts. But it was her lust for Blues and Rock & Roll that inspired Doña to leave the theater business and set out for the New York Nightclub Scene! new Irish language social network - AnLionra PodCampIreland 2008 this Saturday 27th September in Kilkenny 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

She recently recorded her long awaited follow-up EP "Last One Standing" which she co-produced. A five song collection, "Last One Standing" contains more mature lyrics and is creatively produced. Influences include The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Jewel, Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, and Michelle Branch. "Justina's got the talent and the heart to go to the top. This apparent ingenue has recently released "Break of Day", a startlingly mature sample of her virtuosity." -Cafe Improv "Just a week after releasing her first 5-song EP titled "Break of Day", it has been receiving rave reviews. There is a definite buzz accompanying this release, so come out and catch a rising star!" -The Indigo Coffeehouse "Justina is a phenomenal talent, since her debut performance here, we knew we had witnessed something special. She has wonderful lyrics that she transforms into great harmonious songs. Justina has the making of star; we consider her as one of the sensational artists who is 'under the radar'." -Espresso Joe's "Justina has pipes and attitude. She rocks some nice back rhythm on acoustic guitar when the band is in full swing, and is on target in the stripped down guitar and vocal moments. Good dynamics, focused band...if there were ever any doubts as to her ability to rock, they have been put to rest!" -Rob Jones, The Court Tav new Irish language social network - AnLionra PodCampIreland in Kilkenny 27th September - Free event 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

The second drifts into a more mellow Pink Floyd feel, but sparser and more on that indie rock tip. There's hints of a devil may care glam attitude, too: "Throw on the wigs and make-up and let's just rock", comes out sometimes, and the harmonies are beautiful. It feels like five songs aren't enough to figure this one out, though I'm going to definitely keep trying. new Irish language socila network - AnLionra PodCamp Ireland in Kilkenny 27th September 08 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

Info But don’t think you know what you’re getting. Not yet 30, and with a critically-acclaimed solo record and several well-received duet records in her wake, the classically trained singer/songwriter has just begun flexing her artistic muscles, still figuring out how far her talents will take her. If you’re looking for someone playing it safe and sticking to tried-and-true ways of music making, as the title of Rodriguez’s daring new album aptly states, SHE AIN’T ME. “Because I took some chances, wrote with some new people and actually co-wrote most of the songs on the album, it’s very different,” Rodriguez notes. Also different: Malcolm Burn’s dense production, bulging with thoughtful details, yet always serving the song. “If the song doesn’t hold up on its own, without all the production, he doesn’t want to have anything to do with it,” Rodriguez says. “And he was much more into the vibe than perfection—which is good for me, because my tendency is to try to make things perfect.”

Before she reached her teens, she was writing pop songs and classical piano instrumentals. She soon developed an insatiable appetite for all kinds of music, everything from alternative rock to Javanese gamelan, and explored the works of chamber music enthusiast Igor Stravinsky, and minimalist composers Steve Reich and Arvo Pärt. She was then ready to move to the city that she had always viewed as the music capital of the world: New York. Joséphine left the romantic streets of Paris at the age of 17 to pursue her music in the bilingual city of Montreal, Canada. The couple of years she spent there were a stepping-stone for her transition from teenager to adult and from dreamer to artist. She was then ready to move to the city that she had always viewed as the music capital of the world: New York. Montréal gave Joséphine her first stage experiences and introduced her to a whole new world of music. She joined The People’s Gospel Choir of Montréal and was a part of their Vibe Award winning album. She has also recorded songs for film and a television commercial in France. As soon as Joséphine arrived in New York, she knew that she was in the right place and quickly found her way in the local New York music scene. She co-wrote and recorded her first album, Unfinished Life, with singer/songwriter Craig Wilson. In the meantime, she has been playing her songs around New York in venues such as The Bitter End, Crash Mansion, and R&R. Joséphine is an obvious romantic and sings with sweetness and hope although a certain melancholy and awareness of life’s pains and difficulties show her sensitivity in most of her songs. They have been described as “Sweetly sung, counting up regrets such as in the standout, Right Here.” Unfinished Life is an honest representation of who she is, with a persisting little French accent...

from "Looking Forword Looking Back" (Motema Music LLC) from "Lucky 7 - (Digital Bonus Version)" (Motema Music LLC) from "Lucky 7 - (Digital Bonus Version)" (Motema Music LLC) Info "With a girl like me, you know you won't get bored," sings KJ Denhert on the title track of her CD, Girl Like Me. Those who have experienced KJ live would certainly agree. Her sense of joy onstage is infectious, bringing honesty and charisma to her talents as a songwriter, singer and guitarist. As an experienced bandleader, she plays without a net, always taking you on a fun ride. KJ has taken the rhythm, wit and passion of her performances, and wrapped them up in lush arrangements and sparkling production to create her signature CD Girl Like Me. Two notable releases, The Songwriters Notebook and Another Year Gone By, Live followed on her independent label Mother Cyclone Records. KJ calls her music Urban Folk and Jazz, though it is rooted in Funk and R & B. "The jazz," she explains, "comes from people's perceptions of my guitar voicing and the structure of the tunes themselves-using extended solos and players working off of each other. Urban reflects my childhood, growing up in NYC, and folk, I really adored James Taylor, my first guitar influence." Her lyrics tread the familiar grounds of romance, hope and despair, but in uniquely inspiring ways, as in Little Mary "Little Mary don't you be afraid there are a million of us feeling this way."

| 299. | SpudShow 287 - Lin McEwan | music supplied by ArielPublicity Artist - Lin McEwan Track 1 - Rest of Me Get the music here Info Both the videos and the EP mark a big change for a girl who spent her youth being told that she couldn’t sing because her voice was too low. "My voice was so strange for my age," she recalls, "that when I was in the eighth grade, I had to play Santa Claus because the boys voices hadn't changed yet, and I was the only one who could do a convincing, ‘Ho, ho, ho.’" It wasn't until she was 16 that she stepped onto the stage of her high school's gala gospel concert to give her first ever solo performance, a rousing blues take of "Amazing Grace," for which she received a thunderous three-minute standing ovation. Since arriving in New York, the Baltimore-native has been “gaining notice for her uncommonly deep voice” and for her “soulfully sung and well-written material”—a funky fusion of soul and pop… like Tina Turner or Mavis Staples singing over Keane (The Baltimore Sun; JustSoul). Along with her talented group of regular players, who’ve backed everyone from Jesse Malin to Gavin DeGraw, she’s appeared at such landmark establishments as CBGB's and the Bitter End, as well as the Living Room, the Rockwood Music Hall, the Cutting Room, Crash Mansion, and Arlene's Grocery. But she still considers Baltimore home and takes the band back as often as possible. This spring she announces the release of a new book and album within months of each other. Crowded Skies: Letters to Manhattan is the follow-up to her first book, Here’s to Hindsight: Letters to My Former Self (RELEVANT), a spiritual memoir which prompted reviewers to hail her as “the female Donald Miller.” This summer, she released her sixth album, Playing Favorites. TLC’s albums feature many of her friends and influences: Matt Wertz, Dave Barnes, Brandon Heath, Josh Wilson, Kemper Crabb, and members of Caedmon’s Call. As if that weren’t enough, the trifecta of noteworthy magazines for 20- and 30-somethings, RELEVANT, RELEVANT Leader, and Radiant regularly feature her articles. Last year found her contributing to The Voice (Thomas Nelson), The One Year Life Verse Devotional (Tyndale), and Songs From The Voice, Vol. II: Son of the Most High. | 302. | SpudShow 285 - Dandi Wind | music supplied by IodaPromonet Group - Dandi Wind Track 1 - Balloon Factory Info Much has been made of the Dandi Wind live experience, whose legend has been growing with every show. The sheer wall-climbing, feral physicality of Dandi’s stage performance, in lockstep with keyboardist/programmer Szam’s (and recently added live drummer Evan’s) relentless playing, can belie the fact that their show is startlingly tight for something seemingly on the verge of utter chaos. During recent touring with fellow infamous club-destroyers such as Les Georges Leningrad, Klaxons, Justice, Broken Social Scene and Erase Errata, the trio of Dandi Wind threatened to tear the roof off of every venue with impunity, often outshining their better-known compatriots, and all without a hint of irony. That blood is real blood, and possibly your blood. Authentic! Dandi Wind’s debut full-length Concrete Igloo, originally self-released in a highly limited run to a quick sell-out, has now been reissued on Summer Lovers Unlimited in enhanced CD format, with stark, jaw-dropping design and ten music videos. As with the Dandi Wind live show, this album is a truly cohesive cross-media assault. The jarring, icy imagery of Dandi’s design is mirrored perfectly in Concrete Igloo’s sound - a fierce, claustrophobic collision of genre, meme, and modern-age mania. Songs like “Pluck It Out” and “Apotemnophilia” speak of perverse urges to escape the strictures of the human body (the latter song being the clinical term for the urge to self-amputate) yet are intensely rhythmic and danceable. Dandi’s vocals throughout are, by turns, animalistically gutteral and unnervingly slight, riding on Szam’s onrushing sheets of synth. On crowd favorites like “Balloon Factory,” absurdist vignettes are played out in the form of fractured playground chant and narrative. Songs like “Einsteinbrains” speak of human interaction but do so with a frenetic detachment from reality, in perfect keeping with our increasingly depersonalized times. The group playfully refers to itself as “post no-wave”, but it’s rather more fitting to categorize Dandi Wind as post-civilization. Through several incarnations, however, one thing has remained constant: the strength of the band's emotional core. The music has always been moody, atmospheric, and accessible. With the current line-up (Shola on guitar/vocals, Albert on drums, Jaysson on bass), the band has a solid and promising history. After recording their first demo in the confines of their rehearsal room, it was apparent Divisible had developed their own sound. Bryan Cook (Gary Jules, Michael Andrews) agreed to mix the three songs and ready it for release. Drawing local attention by handing out their 3-song demo, Divisible garnered interest from local A&R website Buzzplay.com (featured band), Filter Magazine (pick of the week), and ABC Television. Writing new songs and performing around Los Angeles, the band is currently finalizing their first official release, the Alchemy EP due out July 25th. new Irish language social network - AnLionra 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

Born in Noblesville, Indiana, Meagin has called the Pacific Northwest her home for years. One day in college, something inside Meagin caused her to pick up the acoustic guitar. Since then everything has made more sense. Completely self-taught, Meagins style is uninhibited, describing the process of writing as easy because, All six strings are friends. You just have to find out what theyre saying together. New to the music scene, Meagin has only played acoustic guitar for five years. And, although she is new to Seattle she has gigged all over western Washington. Shes played at: hopvine pub, Galway arms, Ballard firehouse, Black box which was a show sponsored by The University of Washington radio station, KEXP, the showbox greenroom, and many others. She has also gigged in Tacoma and Olympia. She writes relentlessly; her all-original sets can run up to two hours. With the recent addition of hand drums, Meagins demo ranges from introspective, to daring and raw. Meagins commitment to improvisation and live performance are evident at her shows and on her demo. Meagins unique songwriting and powerful, rocking guitar playing, along with awesome timing of the hand drums creates a sound that is different than anything out there right now. Meagin Donovan tells the truth, as she knows it . . . the unedited version. Audiences feel the emotions of each song in a very real way when Meagin sings and jams on the guitar. Meagin Donovan is reaching out to all people who want to rock out because everyone gets something from her music. Constantly writing, Meagin feels obligated to empower her audience, encouraging them to be free in her music. She is an independent artist with one hell of a work ethic and she will not stop working until her music is heard. | 327. | SpudShow 277 - Laura Lambert | music supplied by PodShow Artist - Laura Lambert Track 1 - I Need the Rain Info Laura Lambert Pop rock soul artist Laura Lambert focuses on crafting songs that speak to the heart and leave listeners hungy for more. Along with her producers/co-writers, Vinnie and Janice Zummo, Lambert works at each song, imbuing it with her personality. Truth is vital to Lambert's work. To hear her music is to feel her ideas and understand their importance to her ... and Lambert hopes that they will become important to the listener, as well. Alive Music is the good version of Dr. Frankenstein. It makes you, the listener, feel alive vicariously through the passion of the artist. “Music makes me feel comforted, inspired, hopeful, not alone, connected. It’s really what keeps me going.” Music is food; it is sustenance that helps keep the world spinning. It shines light in corners and makes us all better people. With this in mind, Lambert strives to write songs that inspire and motivate. She wants to entertain but she also wants to explore herself through music and help others do the same. Medicine Music is a healer. Its melodies and words bring healing and catharsis. Lambert's goal is for her music to be a step in that direction. Her simple desire is to create art that offers pleasure and fun to listeners but also offers hope and healing. “Music, in all forms, is medicine for our souls. That is what makes it so universal. It has the power to pick us up in our darkest hour, plant seeds of hope and inspiration in our hearts and lift us up into the light. Music is my oxygen, the air I breathe; it’s what keeps me alive!” AnLionra - new social network in Irish 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

By age thirteen, Jessie had an electric bass she played like a rhythm instrument, and began writing what would become a catalog of dozens of thoughtful, melodic rock songs ranging from lighthearted to darkly beautiful, sometimes within the same song. In the summer of 2002, Jessie put together a band in an attempt to bring her songs to life, ans soon after, Jessie's mom, Marti McKenna, joined the group on backing vocals. By the summer of 2003 the band prepared to go into the studio for the first time. Performing as Jessie McKenna and Her Band (JMaHB), the lineup included Ricochet Biscuit members Ric Neil, Brian Ochs, and Evan Middlesworth, and produced the Deluded EP (recorded at Hype Schwartz). In January of 2004 the McKenna girls split off to perform as an acoustic act. They became Ruby Shuz in July of 2004. Bassist Brandon Koeller joined the band in the summer of 2005, bringing a spirit and enthusiasm that, along with his solid bass lines, fuels the band's fire on stage. Soon after joining the band, Brandon brought drummer Ben Anderson into the mix. A member of the Seattle Seahawks Drumline, Ben's dynamic beats and humor drive the music and stir the band's chemistry during every performance. In early 2006, Andrew Benton joined the band on lead guitars. Today, his guitar work is an integral part of each Ruby Shuz song. Ajda decided to give the full band approach another go-round, and subsequently met up with Tony Savarino, a masterful guitar player consistently in demand around Boston due to his versatility, love of boutique gear, and attention to detail. Their debut, self-titled album, Twilight Dementia, is a bold and daring statement of purpose that demonstrates the group’s unwillingness to play anyone’s game other than their own. The Washington D.C. based duo’s engrossingly atmospheric and ethereal rock is the product of a duo that seemed destined to find each other. Formed in 2006, Twilight Dementia is comprised of Jennifer Mendiola on vocals and John Krauss on guitars, bass, keyboards and programming. “When we first met at the studio, we hit it off immediately,” recalls Jennifer. “Although our musical influences were not identical, our philosophy of music was the same.” Those wide-ranging influences include Lunascape, Evanescence, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Portishead, and Pink Floyd, among others. Jennifer adds, “Besides, when I first heard John play guitar, I remember thinking, I need to be in a band with this guy.” Conversely, John also relates that after working on their first song together, and hearing Jennifer’s vocal approach, he too, knew he wanted to keep writing songs with her. Seeing the possibilities in the immediacy of their chemistry, the two began meeting several times a week to write and experiment, always at twilight. Featuring the first single "Shout," Donna's eleven new tracks seem to pick up right where she left off. Her overly acute sense of pop sensibility remains firmly intact while simultaneously gravitating towards the newer sounds of bands such as Zero 7 and Hooverphonic. “I didn't plan on being away for this long,” Lewis commented. “After Blue Planet, I had the opportunity to work on some great collaborative projects which I found really interesting and enjoyable. Then I did something I had always wanted to do, record an acoustic album, Be Still which I just put out on my website. I had a baby in 2003 and decided to take a complete break to be a hands on mum - I wouldn't change anything about that time, it has been incredible sharing his first few years....” At the end of 1993 she came to the attention of Atlantic Records and so impressed Chairman Doug Morris that he flew her out to New York from her native Cardiff, Wales to meet her personally - and offered her a recording deal on the spot! 2008 Internation Year of the Potato New Irish Language Social Network AnLionra

| 359. | SpudShow 271 - Lori Michaels | music supplied via IodaPromonet Artist - Lori Michaels Track 1 - Get it through your head New CD available from ReformRecords Artist Bio In a time when coming out has evolved from something equated with fear to something much more about freedom, Michaels has freed her artistic soul to deliver “Living My Life Out Loud.” It is a testament to, above all else, her love of the song – whether that means writing, arranging and performing the vocals (lead and backgrounds), showcasing her talents on the piano/keys, or overseeing production with the best in the business to leave listeners breathless. As fans will note in her “Meet Me at the Partay” track, Ms. Michaels has been dubbed “diva” – as in “The Dyke Diva” – in part because of her command of any venue, in part because she is the whole package. To quote GO! Magazine, she is “a new Renaissance woman” –- a powerful singer/songwriter, a musician of the first order, and the star and choreographer of her “Me & The Girls” song and dance act. The fans of NFL, NHL, NBA, and WNBA franchises know Michaels for her chill-rendering delivery of the National Anthem, as well as producing, directing, and wowing crowds in her pre-game and half-time performances. Countless couples know Michaels for “Unconditionally,” her love song sung at many a gay wedding. And club audiences know her for being (in the words of Philadelphia Gay News) “smokin’ sexy” in her steamy Me & The Girls hit show.

| 373. | SpudShow 267 - Jezebel | Group - Jezebel from Norway Track 1 - My Phantom Limb If you want to buy any of the cds, please send an e-mail to jezebel@jezebel.no to order. Info After the band had been called Sidestreet Sirens for a brief period, the music changed direction with the birth of the song Simple Solutions. They then started using more untraditional elements; electric guitar played with a bow and more frequent use of unusual time-signatures. During the spring of 2003, the band changed their name again; this time to Jezebel. At this point the band headed for the studio for the first time and recorded a demo consisting of three songs: Blame Me, Strangest Patterns and Simple Solutions. Jezebel got their first opportunity at national fame, when NRK Petres radioshow for unsigned bands, Urørt, played Simple Solutions on air. The time that followed is characterized by a constant evolution of the repertoire, active use of the Urørt homepage (where a live version of the song Dissect is listed as one of the favourites) and several gigs in Oslo. The music has become what it is today as a result of the band-members. The music spans over a lot of genres and you find elements of jazz, blues and prog as well as traditional pop and rock. Musical quibble, as some would say. *2001 The band was founded by Helene Ring Teppan and Vivian Mari Ozalbo.

| 374. | SpudShow 266 - Acelsia | music supplied by Uhort in Norway Group - Acelsia Track 1 - All for You Get the music from BlastMyMusic Bio The Norwegain band ACELSIA, may be considered as melodic hard rock. Sometimes quiet and mellow, sometimes heavy and noisy - the band is recognised by soothing melodies, melancholy moods and Malene's emotional voice. Acelsia started as a solo project in the summer of 2006. Malene wanted to record some of her songs and got Nils and some other friends to help her out in the studio. Happy with the result, Malene decided to take the project further and form a permanent band. Marius and Håkon showed up for auditions and was soon chosen to join the band. After some time with no permanent second guitarist, the band got its current line-up when Odd Henning joined the band in the fall of 2007. Acelsia has contributed to different compilation albums such as “Månerock vol 2” and “Norwegian Wood Music For China”. In the fall of 2007 they recorded a music video for the song “Christine”. In the last couple of months, Acelsia has taken a new musical direction, away from the guitar based pop/rock to more complex and melodic hard rock/goth metal. With this changed expression, the band has found their identity. In March, 2008, the band recorded a demo to show their recent development. Acelsia tries to create honest and genuine music with hopes that the emotions it conveys will touch the listener. The music is contrastive and emotional, and moves between one extreme to the other, from the soft and sweet to the more brutal and heavy, but always with a strong melody in the center. 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

Following instant national attention from her single “Love” landing on the Bridget Jones’s Diary soundtrack and “The Afterlife” scoring a slot in the Farrelly Brothers’ Shallow Hal, the tunesmith toured with the lauded likes of Melissa Etheridge and Morcheeba. Outside of her own interests, she’s also teamed up as a co-writer on many occasions, from hit maker Kelis to a number of burgeoning artists (with whom she doubles as a mentor) to writing jingles for commercials. “I always dreamed of making timeless music, plus people have always told me my voice was well-suited to jazz and that I should try it,” she shares. “So I hooked up with [longtime friend and legendary session player] Hugh McCracken to record a bunch of standards. A few days into those sessions, we starting writing a song I called ‘The Old Fashioned Way,’ which really set the pace for the record. With everybody and their mom putting out a standards album, I knew I had to go full steam and write my own jazzy repertoire. I am a songwriter after all, so it just made more sense to do it that way. I do enjoy a good challenge, and musically, this one was massive. ” 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

Info The Robots first met at a Le Tigre gig and quickly discovered a shared love of girl punk bands and so started writing music together. Snapped up by French label, Recall, ROBOTS IN DISGUISE released their eponymous debut album in 2004, creating a real buzz throughout Europe after which they took their crazed live show on tour. Their dancefloor killer 12” single, BOYS, was released with remixes by Hidden Agenda, SIN, The Servant and Tommy Hools and won over a host of fans including Boy George and Peaches. After a US release and tour in 2005, ROBOTS IN DISGUISE released GET RID!, their sharp, snazzy electrofunk album on Recall in France, Anorak Supersport in Benelux countries and Australia’s Shock Records. Their standout single, DJ’s GOT A GUN, enjoyed heavy rotation across Europe and the States. GET RID! was then released by President Records in the UK last year, with its single, TURN IT UP, featured on US hit show, Ugly Betty. Robots in Disguise have graced the pages of numerous fashion magazines donning their discopunk mod look and have also acted in BBC2's The Mighty Boosh as evil alter egos, The Electro Girls and The Goth Girls.

Clair The album begins with slow-burning pop and bright shining vocals, which lead you through a tour of romantic longing and crumbling industrial landscapes. This is Lindsay Sullivan's New York. Through her music and lyrics, the band Clair narrows a spotlight on individual moments, singular voices living their lives amidst everyday frustrations and classical arcs. Their debut, Long Road Home, veers from clamorous rock to pensive, piano-driven sketches, traversing a wide stretch of musical and emotional ground. Sullivan, Clair's vocalist and songwriter, has lived in New York for most of her life. "I've played piano, sung, and written various things (plays, short stories, etc.) since I was a kid but never officially started songwriting until my first band, Mason Dixon," Sullivan says. In 2005, Sullivan left the Americana-fueled Mason Dixon to assemble her own band. She soon encountered her old friend and guitarist Brendan Boehning, who quickly became a mainstay of the group, co-writing the music for Long Road Home's "Every Day" and "Gun to My Head." "We've been really lucky getting great musicians to play with us," says Sullivan. "Right now we are working with Lizzie Carena who is a talented vocalist, Dan Loomis, a very respected jazz bassist and my cousin Kevin Duda on drums, who is a great player and a fantastic addition to the band." Sullivan's writing process varies from song to song. "I usually start with an idea, which could be a lyric, melody, character, setting, emotion, news story…whichever one I start with I then work to build the other elements around. Occasionally the stars align and it all happens at once ("Goodness James") and sometimes I have to labor over the song for six months ("Every Day")." The result is an album that shimmers at times and aches with longing at others and is bolstered by a classically buoyant pop sensibility, a trace of lap steel and an open-sky voice. 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

Info "Christine Deady knows how to take a song and give it a good night out, or in" (Jackie Hayden, HOTPRESS Magazine). "Christine's hazey stage presence, smokey poetry and husky voice combine to enchant and entrance any audience. Undoubtedly, a very bright future ahead for this talented songstress" . Im Daisy (aka Christine). Im 25, from Skibbereen but living in Dublin. I've been writing music in my head all my life. If I were an animal, id be an Owl. I love music, I love hope, I know that; Trees are tall, The earth is round, Laughter is sweet, Tears are salty. Ice cream melts (but who wants to live in a freezer), Fame is an illusion, Metrosexuality is stupid, Lemons are better than oranges, Stars are dusty fireballs (not famous people) and doing lots of the things you love makes you happy. What I want is; to live by the sea, in a mansion, surrounded by pineapple trees. When I grow up I want to live off music, write some good songs and barter them at local markets for organic fruit and veg. One day I am going to record in famous studios with really expensive delicate equipment. I want to travel to places where the sun is not just a state of mind and people don't understand what I'm singing. Right now I Live in the City, I pay rent, I live hand to mouth. I play with a full band including two backing vocalists, a drummer and a bass player. We will only play venues that will feed us! 2008 Internation Year of the Potato

from "Innerside" (Noir) from "Reminiscence" (Noir) from "Reminiscence" (Noir) Bio The duo originally met in 1993 at the Television and Film Academy in Brussels, Belgium and began to fiddle around with covers and some original material. In 1997, Kyoko was offered the spot of lead singer for Hooverphonic and her work with Walter was put on the back burner. After touring Europe extensively with Hooverphonic, Kyoko left the band and returned to her work with Walter; Lunascape was born. Lunascape landed a record deal in 1998 and singles began to trickle out over the next few years. But it wasn't until 2002 that Lunascape's debut album Reflecting Seyelence was released, showcasing the group's ethereal blend of trip-hop, moody pop, and electronic textures framed by Baertsoen's lush vocals.
