HOW-TO
Make Your Own Video Blog - Script
Sketching your storyboard and script

Next, you will need to plan your storyboard and script. This is where your movie really begins, so it's important you find a format that works for you. There are many formats used to create a storyboard. A sample storyboard is shown on the right:

  1. In the boxes on the left, sketch out each scene with their respective backgrounds, cast and situation.
  2. To the right of each box, write down the lines of the actors, the length of the scene, and describe its location, background music and sound effects.
  3. When you have finished, read out the script to see if it sounds smooth, and check if the timing you have allocated for the scene is accurate.

Questions to ask:
  • What is the location/setting?
  • How many cast members are needed for the scene?
  • Any important props required for the scene?
  • What type of shots (close-ups, wide-shots, establishing shots, for example) are required?
  • What is the angle of the shot? Where should the camera be placed?
  • Will there be any movement needed by the actor or prop? If so, what path does the camera need to follow after the actor or prop?
  • Any special lighting (candlelight, moonlight, for example) required?
  • Are any special effects (gunfire, explosions, computer effects, for example) needed?
When your storyboard is complete, check out the location for the shoot, prepare the costumes and props needed, and pass the script to the cast for rehearsals.
